8.29 Reflection: I began to learn the codify system today. People often stress grammar and make it boring for students, this makes many people not want to go through the process of learning grammar because it is discouraging to them. However, since grammar is one of my weakest points, I would really like to work on it this year. This system will help me in the future particularly in a business environment, often base their ideas of a person's level of intelligence on proper usage of language.

9.10 Reflection: Now that I more familiar with this codify system, I have a better understanding of how this all works. Today I learned what a "participle" is. A participle is a word formed from a verb which can be used as an adjective. It nice to know what the term is cause I never knew how to call it. A participle phrase also acts like an adjective. It will often appear at the start of a sentence to describe something in the main clause.

9.12 Reflection: From this sentence today I can say that punctuation is one of the most important aspects of written English, and yet it is one that is taken the most lightly. It is, in fact, this feature of writing that gives meaning to the written words much like pauses and changes in tones of the voice when speaking. An error in punctuation can convey a completely different meaning to the one that is intended. I also learned how the gerunds work. So gerund phrases always function as nouns, so they will be subjects, subject compliments, or objects in the sentence

9.17 Reflection: Now I am more familiar with the special types of verbs - gerunds, participles, and infinitives, especially infinitives because they were both on the documentation and the homework. An infinitive will almost always begin with to followed by the simple form of the verb. Also, now its easier for me to determine the direct objects and the appositives, without looking at "the system".
Documentation & homework #5
9.23 Reflection: This one was difficult to figure it out since it had two sets of subject and predicate, different from what we learned so far. It was confusing at first, but when I broke the sentence into smaller portions, it wasn't as complicated than I thought.
